Stories and Traditions highlights artwork by Native American artists from the Mid-Atlantic region, including Indigenous peoples such as the Piscataway, Lumbee, Pamunkey, and others. As we transition into the fall harvest season and winter’s time of storytelling and reflection, many communities observe traditions that extend beyond familiar commercialized holidays. Through paintings, fiber art, video, sculpture, ceramics, beading, jewelry, and other media, this exhibition explores the stories, traditions, and cultural practices that have been passed through generations. The featured works celebrate Native creativity, challenge common misconceptions, and offer contemporary and traditional perspectives on identity, heritage, and community.
